  1. Very true. They probably would DMCA it immediately considering they are in the process of releasing MS2. lol. Well if you want any help privately fleshing it out you know who to call. ;)

    Yea, we were working on a prototype MS2 server emulator, though I haven't actually worked on that project in a few weeks.

    Wait what?! Can this be public? XD I've been really wanting to get into it, considering I cut my teeth on private servers with Maplestory... But the initial hurdle of the packet encryption and such is a bit beyond me. x.x If there was a release of just the basics to get in game for MS2 I would be coding up features left and right. ^_^

  3. In general, people logging packets shouldn't have trouble figuring this out, but just to help people out...

    cd "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\TreeOfSavior\release"
    Zemyna.exe host:52.5.58.238 port:7001
    :: 52.5.58.238:7001 (Klaipeda)
    :: 52.200.8.230:7003 (Orsha)
    :: 52.29.245.95:7004 (Fedirnian)
    :: 52.77.117.72:7004 (Telsiai)
    :: 52.77.140.95:7003 (Varena)

    Stick Zemyna in the ToS/release folder and put this block into a .bat file anywhere.

    As you can see, I've included the IP and port for each of the iTOS servers as of right now. I can't get the IP for Silute because it's down right now. (They're relocating it anyway, so the IP is bound to change.)

  4. I get an error when opening the pre-compiled version (i11257).

    However, I was able to recompile the solution myself and everything works fine. Seems to just be the plugin dlls that were the issue.

  5. As a side note though, if you need someone to experiment with some 3D modeling, I've done a little and really enjoyed it. I would be eager to try some more. ^^ (Definitely no good at texturing though. xD We need a real graphic artist for that.)

  6. I think I'm a lot like you, in regards to development. That's probably why I never finish the games I start, but I always enjoy coding new things I haven't done before.

    What this place has going for it is there are already a few skilled individuals to synergize together and provide motivation for each other. I do agree that it needs more people, though. I would love to help, but I was partially waiting for some design decisions to solidify first and I just simply don't have the time right now. :/

  7. That's very true. I'm certainly not saying to rule it out, just that it takes some special consideration to get it right. There are many aspects to balancing a game, and all that takes a considerable amount of time and testing - a weight system is one of those things.

  8. Inventory realism isn't near as important to me as ease-of-management. I give props to Mabinogi for doing something different, but it's really quite a nuisance to move things around to make them fit. I prefer simple 1x1 slots for all items.

    I also really like uncapped stacking as well. The stack limits of 99, 200, or whatever number you pick just seems really arbitrary, and there isn't a logical explanation for it. One could argue that it's "more realistic" to take up multiple slots, but stacking 200 potions in a single slot is highly unrealistic so the logic is inconsistent. It seems to me the only reason to limit stacking is to force the player to use shops and banks more frequently.

    I support special bag slots for inventory expansion. No complaints here.

    As for a weight system... I'm torn on this. I generally like the idea, and I feel that it's actually much more realistic than random stack limits. My only problem is that this implies items carry a realistic weight, and the added realism isn't always desirable from a gameplay perspective. For example, let's say you're in a dungeon and pick up a weapon and a heavy armor... Now you're fully weighted down and you haven't made it through the dungeon yet, so you want to go back and sell some things, but that's really a pain when you're in the middle of a dungeon. (Or impossible, depending on the game.) I like the strategic element of limiting your ability to load up on potions and equips when going into battle, but I don't like the restriction to picking up loot along the way.
