  1. IPF Browser is a tool to browse the contents of IPFs and extract files from them. I created it as an alternative to IPF Suite because it doesn't support the encrypted IPF files yet and lacks little "quality of life" features I was missing.

so you might help them when not busy?

I've never played PSO and I have more than enough on my plate as is, I probably won't help some random server emulator project^^

even if they know the demand is extremely high and there is profit to be made

Companies usually aren't "being dicks" on purpose. If they don't bring something over here it's not to disgruntle you, but simply because they don't believe there is profit to be made, or not enough to justify the effort and the costs. They want to make money, if they believed there was money to be made, they'd be all over it.

  3. It does require client modding, yes.

When we first researched the features file on the old forum, someone did find a feature that partially (de)activated the old GUI, 95b07f6e. I vaguely remember said someone saying that the client crashes on certain windows though, so I don't think that's a viable solution. The features file is fickle anyway...

The only alternative I see would be to mod the new GUI, to look like the old one as much as possible. The new UI is largely driven by XML files, in db/layout2, and the images that make up the windows and dialogues can be modified as well. It will probably never look exactly the same though, and it will be a lot of work.

    Can I swear here?

Sure, let it out, as long as you don't insult other users.

Do you like.. Record yourself doing shit w/ Aura?

I do streams from time to time, when I do I usually announce it on the chat, so feel free to lurk there ;)

    that does indeed sound weird
or could it be some sort of protection?

Nope, it's just weird. They turned the keyword system into a general use boolean manager, to enable/disable features. It makes sense, to a certain degree. They needed one, the keyword system was there, why not use it? But figuring that out is hell^^

    is their code that weird?
i honestly can't imagine what that would look like

Hm, it's hard to find an example since I don't know your experience with the game. This is one of favorites: You know how when you talk to NPCs, that memo you have? With the keywords (Rumor, etc)? The server tells the client which keywords you have, so the client can display them for you to choose from. So far so logical. But there are also hidden keywords, that devCAT uses for things completely unrelated to NPCs. For example, if you don't have certain keywords, you can't use the Continent Warp. It just doesn't work, no errors, no nothing, the client doesn't react. Took me months to figure that out, and that was a total coincidence >_>

Figuring out such quirks can be a real challenge sometimes, and there's no shortage on quirks in Mabi^^

or is it lost because of the newer updates changing/replacing them?

That's exactly the problem in almost all cases where NPCs say that =/ We need someone who can properly translate official Japanese dialogues or come up with custom ones that fit the NPCs and environment. There's no way to get them from NA anymore.

Much worse. The personified madness, the cat's creators.

which was more than enough back in G1 actually, but power/economy creep took over

Keep in mind that we basically are on G1^^

    implementing the missing quests

Some of those monsters don't even spawn anywhere though, so they would have to be added as well^^ Like White Foxes and Gray Dire Wolves. I agree though, we should add those missing quests and monsters, as optional custom content, that's kinda official.

About MMC not think it's greed. Other games like Albion did the same thing with a value of US $ 99.95.

I think the situation here is a little different though. The game is basically ready for release, it had multiple closed betas in multiple regions already, there's simply no reason for them to do another payed, closed beta, except for wanting to rake in money. Founder's packs are always a way to make money of course, but usually you buy them to get access to the closed alpha/beta. In TOS's case the closed beta is done, but they announced another one for no reason, after announcing an open beta first. At least that's how I see it.

Another point might be the value of what you get. In many founder's packs you find exclusive things that you can't really get any other viable way. You want in now, and you want the special features/items/titles/pets/whatever, so you pay up. Maybe $50, maybe $100, maybe even more, but in TOS you get nothing special. It's 2 headgears (dunno if those are even exclusive?) and the value of your buy-in in their cash currency. Like they said themselves, it's a headstart, nothing else. You're paying in advance what you might spend on the game later on. Even that is done better by other companies though, as they usually don't only have 1 pack, but multiple ones. Like Albion, which does not only have the $100 one, but also one for $30.

I think this is a trend.

It definitely is, for better or worse. I don't mind buying into a closed beta, but not into an "open" one, if you know what I mean =|

I am looking forward to its release. I tested the emulator R1Emu, however, is too outdated and compilations of bugs.

We are awaiting the release of Melia and his response

Keep in mind though, while Melia is a little more advanced than R1, it's not complete yet either. You will be able to set up a server, login, and do things upon release of the code, but not much more than what I have demonstrated in my videos so far. It will be on all of us to change that =)

As long as it's clear what you're saying there's no problem^^

I can see how the recent announcement might've piqued your interest. It will be interesting to see where they're going now, though I'm starting to lose confidence in them.

Brazilian community is very interested in Melia.

Yes, the plans are still the same. Though I might speed them up a little bit. Originally I wanted to wait until the game is available to everybody, but I don't like the idea of waiting another 3 months.

you have new information about this melia emulator?

I actually haven't worked on it these past few weeks, because I was pretty busy with Aura, our main project here. The release plans haven't changed, I'll make it open-source shortly after iTOS opens.

  13. Welcome~

I'm not aware of any public private servers atm, and for legal reasons we can't have people post information about pservers on this forum, but if you want to try Aura for yourself or learn more about it and its users you certainly came to the right place^^
